FRESH ingredients, big flavours and plenty of old favourites have helped Golden Lor at Yamanto claim the latest title on Roamin’ Rowan’s culinary trip around the world.

The chopsticks have been put down, the fortune cookies cracked open and another stop on our trip around the world is officially in the books.

After eating our way through plenty of fried rice, honey chicken, sweet and sour pork and everything in between, Golden Lor at Yamanto has been crowned Ipswich’s Best Chinese.

And it was a worthy winner.

Golden Lor only made Yamanto its new home at the start of the year, moving from its former Ripley location into a much larger restaurant that has helped take the local Golden Lor experience to another level.

The Yamanto venue forms part of a growing Golden Lor story that began at Browns Plains in 2015 and has since expanded to five restaurants across South East Queensland.

But forget the size of the restaurant and the growing business behind it – this competition was always going to be decided by what landed on the plate.

Golden Lor delivered where it mattered.

There is something comforting about a great Chinese feed.

Golden Lor works just as well when you want the dependable combination of fried rice and honey chicken as it does when you want to branch out across the menu, throw several dishes into the middle of the table and let everyone fight over the final serving.

Roamin’ Rowan’s Best Chinese in Ipswich: Golden Lor, Yamanto And with China now stamped in the passport, it is time to keep moving.

Next stop: Japan.

We’re looking for the best sushi, ramen, katsu, karaage, teppanyaki – they are all on the radar as the hunt begins for Ipswich’s Best Japanese.
