WITH an increased interest for careers in the health sector, St Augustine’s College has signed an agreement with CheckUP to become part of the Health Gateway to Industry Schools Project.

The purpose of this project is to provide students with the knowledge and experiences required for future participation in the health industry.

Also, to ensure the learning opportunities provided by the College meet the expectations of industry for jobs now and in the future and to engage health organisations to attract informed and suitable young people to careers in the industry.

This is a great opportunity for the College students who continue to take on valuable vocational education and training during their senior years which currently includes a certificate three in Fitness and certificate three in Health Services Assistance.

Students have benefited from work experience and enjoyed excursions to tertiary health campuses, aged and disability care centres and continue to gain practical knowledge in the areas of medicine, paramedicine, physical exercise and more.

Principal Graham Meertens said the school was one of the few schools to have been accepted to be part of this project

“This certainly gives our college an advantage, as only one school in a certain radius can be accepted in this program.”
