INDEPENDENT Liquor Group (ILG) has marked a major milestone in its evolution with the sod-turning ceremony for its new distribution centre at Swanbank, signalling the beginning of a significant investment in the Ipswich region.
Situated within the emerging New-Gen Business Park—just 6 kilometres south-east of the Ipswich CBD and 45 kilometres south-west of Brisbane—the facility is strategically positioned to service ILG’s extensive Queensland operations.
The 30,846 square metre site will include a 14,983 square metre warehouse, equipped with a 50m² dock office, a 433m² materials handling equipment (MHE) charging area, and 190m² of temperature-controlled zones.
These features support ILG’s core objective in wholesale distribution: ensuring efficient, reliable route-to-market access with a strong focus on quality and service.
ILG Chairman Damien Bottero said the development reflects the cooperative’s continued commitment to the communities it serves.
“When the company began fifty years ago, it started with a vision that we endeavoured to fulfil well into the future,” Mr Bottero said during the ceremony.
“Investing in regions we serve and jobs for those who live throughout those regions is at the heart of what we do.
Providing employment that can ensure local economic prosperity and growth is vital to ILG.”
ILG is Australia’s largest liquor cooperative, supporting a range of hospitality and retail businesses through its six key banners: Fleet Street, Bottler, Super Cellars, Clubmart, Pubmart and ILG On Premise.
The new distribution centre is expected to generate hundreds of jobs throughout the remainder of the construction phase and offer long-term employment once operational.
As part of the New-Gen Business Park development, ILG has partnered with CIP, a trusted construction and industrial property group, project management team TMX and EMKC3, a leader in property development and asset management.
CIP CEO Mark Hendry confirmed that construction is progressing well, with the warehouse structure now 75 percent complete.
“We are well on our way to being able to operate out of the Swanbank hub,” Mr Hendry said.
Once completed, the Swanbank facility will not only enhance ILG’s distribution capabilities but also serve as a cornerstone for regional investment and sustainable industrial growth in South-East Queensland.
