IPSWICH and its surrounding areas are reaping the benefits of a strong focus on community, environmental, and heritage initiatives, with the State Government recently backing 34 projects across the region.

From wildlife conservation to heritage restoration and community infrastructure upgrades, the investment is designed to strengthen local communities while preserving the region’s unique character.

Wildlife projects received significant support, including the construction of flight and release aviaries for endangered flying foxes ($5000), food and cage provision for native birds ($9945), and rehabilitation programs for orphaned and injured animals ($6683).

Larger-scale conservation efforts included habitat enhancement in the Little Liverpool Range ($46,500) and a research-driven koala conservation project ($99,436).

Community infrastructure projects also featured prominently. Sporting and recreational facilities received energy-efficient upgrades, with the Ipswich Knights Soccer Club lighting project ($51,010) and PCYC Ipswich lighting upgrade ($61,478) among the highlights.

Community gardens and eco hubs were supported as well, including the Ripley Valley Community Garden ($11,559) and early-stage funding for the Leichhardt Community Garden and Eco Hub ($3000).

Smaller initiatives addressing local environmental management and community safety were also funded, from improvements to Black Snake Creek ($5900) and secure housing for rehabilitation projects ($10,000), to a solar installation at Bindarra Children’s Daycare ($17,805).

These 34 funded projects reflect a balanced investment in ensuring a sustainable legacy for generations to come.
