IPSWICH Grammar pupil Mitchell Harte is the latest local to become a world champion.
Mitch was part of the Australian team that won the U15 World Indoor Cricket Title in Dubai. The Aussie team was undefeated after 10 games and worthy champions.
Also, on local athletes Ipswich High’s Shalom Sauaso has been selected to represent Australia in the upcoming Global Youth Seven’s at the Gold Coast.
The young footballer is a talent of the future and has already represented Queensland in both rugby league and rugby union.

Lions say thanks
The Brisbane Lions Fan Day at Springfield drew thousands of supporters to celebrate a season which took them to within a whisker of the title.
The fans turning up in numbers showed that Brighton Homes Arena would be a popular choice for the Lions as a home ground when the Gabba is redeveloped for the Olympics.

On Point Media winners
Ipswich celebrated the chamber business awards on the weekend and one of the big winners on the night was Onpoint Media Solutions.
It’s a double for David Reid and Kerryn Costello the dynamic duo behind the agency.
The local media agency’s creativity and professionalism recently saw them recognised as a national business awards finalist.
Speciality shop opens
Gluten Free4u opened Saturday in Brassall to much fanfare on Saturday.
Coeliacs across the city lined up for up to an hour to have their taste buds tantalised with pastry treats.
Jacqui and Brooke have one of the few gluten free and dairy free shops in SEQ.

Lisa’s Lunches
Finally, I’d like to acknowledge the work of my wife Jacqui, who started helping cancer patients and families in remembrance of our friend Lisa who lost her battle with cervical cancer just six years ago.
Since that time Lisa’s Lunches has formed a committee, gained charitable status and has helped hundreds of families on a cancer journey. The annual general meeting last week saw Lisa’s husband Mark share his story.
This year over 10,000 lunches have been delivered and thousands in vouchers distributed.
