THE city’s athletic talent put on a show at the recent State Track and Field Championships while serving up multiple wins and placings and personal bests aplenty.
Many athletes also secured their spots in the upcoming Australian 2025 Track & Field Championships in Perth.
Among the standout performances, Liliana Titley impressed in the U13 middle-distance events, winning the 800m in 2:25.27 and finishing second in the 1500m with a PB of 4:52.49.
The U15 division saw impressive results as well. Diva Ejembi took first place in the high jump with 1.65m, while Sophie McGeehan earned podium finishes in multiple events, including first in the long jump (5.19m PB), third in the triple jump (10.75m), and third in the high jump (1.60m PB).
Among the U16 competitors, Christina Tukuafu dominated the discus event with a first-placed throw of 38.24m, while Hayley Windolf made the podium in multiple events, finishing third in the discus (35.47m) and second in the shot put (12.52m).
In the U17-U20 categories, Addison Farinazzo took third place in the U17 100m hurdles with 14.57 seconds, second in the 400m with a personal best of 57.14 seconds, and winning the 400m hurdles with a personal best of 1:01.49.
Saskia Josipovic showcased her dominance in the throws, securing first place in the U18 discus (43.53m), first in the U20 discus (43.00m), and third in the U18 shot put (12.56m). Allira Takau claimed first place in the U20 shot put with 13.74m and second in the discus with 40.55m.
Ipswich Athletics also saw strong performances from para-athletes.
Mia Kertesz dominated her events in the U17 T/F40 category, Daniel Phillips was another standout, winning five gold medals in the U15 T/F20 category.
In other notable performances, Hudson Severinsen won the U14 shot put (14.66m PB), discus (45.89m), javelin (32.45m PB), and hammer (49.02m).
Dakota Stewart also impressed, winning the U18 2000m steeplechase with a personal best of 6:01.82 and placing third in the 800m and second in the 1500m.
Ipswich Athletics is well-placed heading into the national championships.
