THE first twinkle of Christmas is starting to light up the suburbs as the City of Ipswich Christmas Lights Competition opens.

There are five competition categories this year: Best Residential, Best Business/Organisation, Best Street, Best New Entry and the People’s Choice.

Winners will share in more than $8000 worth of prices and all entrants will have the chance to win one of five $200 vouchers for General Public in the Nicholas Street Precinct.

Entries are open now until November 28.
