The Ipswich Force had a double header last weekend with the men’s games being tight clashes, a win and a loss by single digits.

On Friday night Ipswich hosted the Brisbane Capitals with the 57-49 lead at half-time thanks to dynamo Nathan Sobey serving up 20 points and Henry Pwono with 18 points and two steals before the major break.

Ipswich held the lead for most of the game before the visiting side took control in the third quarter.
In the end, Force saluted 96-94 with standout efforts from Sobey with 30 points and Henry Pwono with 25 points and seven rebounds.

In the second of the two clashes, the South West Metro Pirates went to the halftime break leading 51-39, before the Force brought it back to single digits.

In the final quarter, the Force traded blows with it coming down to a single point win for the Pirates 93-92.

Sobey was kept quiet finishing with only four points for the game with Henry Pwono leading Ipswich’s scorers with 28 points including four three pointers made from five attempts. Captain Jason Ralph showed his leadership credentials once again finishing with 19 points, five rebounds and ten assists.

They will now recover and return next Saturday May 4 to JBS Arena where they will host the Rockhampton Rockets.

The Lady Force are still hunting their first win for the season having lost both games over the weekend. Friday night saw them beaten by the Capitals 87-75
