IPSWICH Girls’ Grammar School and Ipswich Junior Grammar School recorded one of their strongest academic performances in recent years, with the Class of 2025 achieving outstanding ATAR results across the cohort.
The schools reported a median ATAR of 90.675, a significant rise from 87.25 in 2024, placing graduates among Queensland’s top academic performers.
Three per cent of students achieved an ATAR of 99 or above, placing them in the top 1 per cent statewide, matching last year’s strong result. More than a quarter of the cohort (26 per cent) achieved an ATAR of 95 or higher, up from 20 per cent in 2024, while 53 per cent recorded ATARs of 90 or above, a substantial increase from 39 per cent last year.
Strong results were also evident across the broader cohort, with 88 per cent of students achieving an ATAR of 80 or higher, maintaining consistently high outcomes year-on-year.
The ATAR success follows strong NAPLAN results earlier in 2025, with Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School and Ipswich Junior Grammar School finishing second in the region across both primary and secondary education, reinforcing the schools’ academic standing from early years through to senior schooling.
Principal Kyle Thompson said the results reflected not only academic capability but the broader strengths of the school community.
“We congratulate our Class of 2025 on their outstanding results,” Mr Thompson said.
“Their efforts, alongside a strong NAPLAN performance this year, reflect the commitment, character and determination of our students.”
He said the outcomes also highlighted the effectiveness of the schools’ learning approach and support networks.
“Their achievements highlight the strength of our school’s personalised learning programs and the unwavering support of our staff and families,” he said.
“We value not only academic success but also the qualities that will serve our students well beyond school.”
The celebration of the Class of 2025 coincides with the opening of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School’s 2027 scholarships, with applications closing on January 30.
Scholarships on offer include Academic, Leadership, Defence Force Family, Rural, Special Ability Scholarships in Sport and Performing Arts, and the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation Scholarship, providing pathways for students from diverse backgrounds to access a Grammar education in Ipswich.
