The Ipswich State High Langer Cup Team continued its winning streak in the schoolboy league with a 34-22 win over Keebra Park State High at North Ipswich Reserve.

The win also keeps the local school as the only undefeated team from the eight in the league, with breathing space of a 67-point differential.

It only took four minutes for the home side to score, with Xzavier Timoteo crossing.

Tom Parker scored a double, and with five from six attempts converted off his boot, the silky fullback contributed 18 points of his own to his team’s tally.

Ipswich State High held the lead from start to finish despite the visitors posting four tries of their own.

Head coach Josh Bretherton was pleased with yet another great performance from his pack.

“It was a great night and great win,” he said.

“Brilliant way to play the last home game for the season.

“As a group, they did a great job to weather a storm and then get control of the game.

“Tom Parker was very good and covered lots of ground.

“Sam Martin and Cooper Cracknell were also really good and very physical in the middle.

“Xavier Kirk was a great spark.”

With two rounds remaining of the regular season, the Ipswich outfit will now head to Logan to take on powerhouse Marsden State High School, with Bretherton aware of what’s ahead.

“Marsden away is always a tough challenge,” he said.

“It will be important we defend well because they have some sharp players.”

That clash will be played at Marsden State High School on July 24 with kick-off at 4.30pm.

The final round the following week will see Ipswich High head up the Bruce Highway to take on Caloundra State High before finals.
