The population of Ipswich is set to double by 2046 and the recently announced Home Guarantee Scheme will attract residents to purchase properties throughout the city. The scheme has helped 3,550 Ipswich locals into home ownership since May 2022, with the region becoming the third highest rate of take-up nationally.
Ipswich has six of the top ten most affordable suburbs with Dinmore (3rd), Toogoolawah (5th), Laidley (6th), One Mile (7th), Riverview (8th) and Leichhardt (9th) all attracting buyers looking for a decent price on the market.
At a national level, the expanded and improved Home Guarantee Scheme recently passed the milestone of 100,000 people helped into home ownership.
Almost one in three first home buyers in 2022-23 were supported by the scheme, with the Home Guarantee Scheme packaged alongside the Help to Buy as part of the Albanese Government’s agenda to support home ownership.
Help to Buy will support eligible homebuyers with an equity contribution of up to 40 per cent for new homes and 30 per cent for existing homes – with eligible buyers needing as little as a 2 per cent deposit to buy a home.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann welcomed the latest figures, saying the strong level of interest in the program showed it was meeting a genuine need in the community.
Real Estate Consultant at Link Properties Ipswich and Lockyer Valley Roger Eveans said the Scheme was proving to be a great step up for his clients.
“When it comes to the Home Guarantee scheme in our area it has a lot of benefits,” he said.
“For the price range that we have, and for the clients that we have that are very cautious about considering buying a home, with interest rates being so high.
“There are also the added advantages that the scheme has including removal of lenders mortgage insurance and stamp duty relaxation.
“We’ve had people that have been able to get out of the high rental market.
“I would highly recommend all buyers to reach out to a recommended mortgage broker to see if they qualify.”
