ACTION to complete the Ipswich Motorway upgrade is continuing with expressions of interest called to update the motorway’s masterplan.
An updated masterplan for the remaining three-kilometre section of the Ipswich Motorway between Oxley and Darra, along with a business case for the first package to upgrade the Oxley Interchange, will assist in delivering safer and more reliable travel times.
Planning is expected to be complete in mid-2024.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Ipswich Motorway was an important connecting road for many South East Queenslanders, and we want to ensure it continues to function as our population grows.
“The updated masterplan for the final stretch, which will build on previous plans, will aim to make the motorway easier for motorists in the corridor between Oxley and Darra,” she said.
Federal Member for Oxley Milton Dick said when complete, the upgrades will make the Ipswich Motorway much easier and safer to use.
“The first stage of these Ipswich Motorway upgrades were delivered in April 2021, so it’s great to see we’re moving forward with the next three-kilometre section.”
The $25 million planning phase is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments on a 50:50 basis.
