MID-YEAR graduates from Ipswich TAFE celebrated their achievements recently as part of a group of more than 3000 students completing courses at the Ipswich campus this year.

Two graduation ceremonies were held to mark the completion of studies for the mid-year graduating cohort.

Following the certificate presentations, the cohort was inspired by heartfelt speeches from student representatives Amira Elshandidi and Samantha Smith.

Amira, who completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122), reflected on the courage it took to change careers and the support she received along the way.

“The hardest work we do is bridging the gap between who we are now and who we want to be,” Amira said.

“Step by step, assignment by assignment, that’s exactly what we were doing.”

Samantha, a graduate of the Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121), shared her inspiring journey as a young mother determined to defy the odds and pursue her passion for healthcare.

“Statistically, mothers under 20 face lower education outcomes and reduced employment opportunities. I was not going to let that happen,” Samantha said.

“Persistent and stubborn, I chose to do the Diploma anyway. I knew how hard it would be, especially being a new mum, but I also knew I could do it. I refused to be another statistic.”

Graduates received certificates and diplomas across a range of study areas including nursing, training and assessment, business, information technology and individual support.

TAFE Queensland General Manager (South West Region) Kate Venables said the graduating cohort were part of a large group of learners who were completing courses at the campus this year, underscoring the campus’s vital role in delivering accessible, high-quality vocational education across the Ipswich region.

“We are incredibly proud of our graduates and the hard work that they’ve put into their studies. This milestone marks the beginning of a journey filled with new opportunities,” Ms Venables said. “On behalf of TAFE Queensland, we encourage our graduates to embrace the journey ahead with courage and passion and that we believe in their ability to make great happen.”
