AT just 13 years old, Isabella Mack is already making her mark on the international futsal scene.
Selected for the Australian Allstars Team, Isabella is preparing to compete at the upcoming World Championships – a dream she has been chasing since first kicking a futsal ball in 2024.
For Isabella, futsal was more than just an off-season sport to improve her soccer skills.
“I fell in love with the physicality, the fast pace, and the different skills needed to play,” she said.
“It’s a game that constantly challenges you, both physically and mentally.”
Her dedication quickly paid off – being selected for the Australian Allstars Team was a moment she describes as a mix of “shock, excitement, happiness, and pride”.
“Representing Ipswich and my state and country means the world to me,” she said.
“I want to make my family proud, as well as my friends, my community, and everyone who has supported me to help me get to where I am.”
Isabella’s training regimen is nothing short of extraordinary for someone her age. She rises at 3am to hit the gym with her mum three to four times a week, building strength and endurance to complement her futsal skills.
In addition, she commits to three team training sessions each week, sometimes travelling up to an hour each way, and fits in extra practice at home when schoolwork allows.
“I don’t really have a balance – every day is chaotic,” Isabella said.
“But I always prioritise my schoolwork because I’m part of the Accelerated Academic classes, and I want a strong education for my future.”
Despite the early mornings and long days, her motivation never wavers.
“Training gives me the chance to improve my skills and build strong relationships with my teammates,” she said.
Looking ahead to the World Championships in the US, Isabella is thrilled not only about competing at the highest level but also about new adventures.
“This will be my first ever plane trip, and I’m really excited to stay at Universal Orlando Resort,” she said.
For other young athletes chasing big dreams, she offers simple but powerful advice.
“Always chase them, because they won’t chase you back,” she said.
“And if you get an opportunity, always take it.”
Isabella plays in the flank position.
“It’s my favourite because I get to play all over the pitch – defending, attacking, making runs, and taking shots on goal when the opportunity is right.”
At just 13, Isabella is not only representing Australia but also inspiring young athletes everywhere to chase their dreams with passion and determination.
