You know Christmas is coming when the Wildey St fig tree lights up.
For more than 50 years the Wallaces have lit their tree with coloured lights, and brought delight to tens of thousands of locals and visitors from far and wide. Thank you once again to the Wallace’s for your community contribution.
They also open their property on the first Sunday night of December for the Raceview Congregational Carols Under the Tree. This event has been going for around 50 years, as I remember performing there when mum ran the kindy back in the early 70s, back in the day.
Once again another Carol performance was enjoyed by an appreciative crowd with performances by locals, supported by the Bundamba Salvos.
Project Booyah is a mentoring program run by QPS to teach good decision making, resilience and life skills to at risk young people.
It was a pleasure to be at last week’s graduation for seven young ladies at Brothers who successfully completed a 16-week program. It is always good to see young people making good decisions, and I wish the young ladies well in their future, and trust they will be able to use their new found skills to be productive members of our community.
Bruce is best
Coles employs more than 120,000 people, and our very own Bruce Craig-Williams from Yamanto Central has been crowned their friendliest employee in the country for the second year running. He is truly an amazing man and is always helping customers with a smile and friendly demeanour.
He knows the names of a host of customers, and makes shopping a pleasurable experience. He is certainly a worthy winner, and deserves the accolade of the friendliest employee in the company.
Dakota’s big win
It was good to see local Dakota Davidson starring on the national stage, winning the AFLW premiership with the Brisbane Lions.
Dakota was under an injury cloud going into the big game, and with a heavily strapped knee managed to have a big impact on the game, kicking two goals in the final quarter to deliver victory.
Amazingly, Brisbane teams have been in five national grand finals this year, and the ladies were the only team to win the crown.
If you haven’t been to a carols event yet, there are opportunities at Tivoli Drive in and Robelle Domain on Saturday night, with Whitehill Church, Ripley School and Redbank Plains hosting events on Sunday night.
Have a great week, and enjoy the festive season
