THE Brisbane Lions faithful turned out in force on Tuesday for a special fan day at Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield, as excitement builds for the club’s third consecutive AFL Grand Final appearance.

On a warm and sunny morning, families, lifelong members, and new supporters alike came together to cheer on their team in preparation for Saturday.

The atmosphere was buoyant, with the crowd of thousands reflecting the bright future of this talented Lions outfit.

The celebration followed the Lions’ emphatic 100-71 Preliminary Final victory over the Collingwood Magpies last Saturday.

But Tuesday was about more than just football. Fans mingled with players, children proudly donned maroon, blue and gold, and the sense of connection between the players and their supporters was clear to see. The Lions showed why they remain at the heart of sport in South East Queensland.

Head of AFL Queensland Trisha Squires congratulated the Lions on a third straight Grand Final appearance.

“We will have a range of free activities for families to get involved with our game, before hosting a Toyota AFL Grand Final Watch Party at New Farm Park on Saturday,” she said.

“Whether you are a seasoned fan, or new to our game, AFL is for everyone and we have something for you.”

The Lions will face the Geelong Cats at the MCG this Saturday from 2.30pm.
