THE Director of Queensland Childcare Services’ Winston Glades Early Education Centre, Lisa Harris, has been selected as a 2026 Children’s Rights Queensland Ambassador.
The honour recognises her decades-long dedication to child safety, wellbeing, education and inclusion.
With more than 26 years’ experience in early childhood education, Ms Harris has built a reputation for fostering environments where children feel safe, heard and respected.
“I’m honoured to have been selected as a Children’s Rights Queensland Ambassador for 2026,” Ms Harris said.
“I believe every child, no matter where they are born or what circumstances they face, deserves to grow up safe, valued, and heard.
“Children have the right to education, protection, healthcare, and the freedom to express themselves without fear.”
As an ambassador for children’s rights, Ms Harris is committed to raising awareness, advocating for fairness, and supporting actions that create real change.
“This means listening to young voices, standing up against injustice, and working with communities to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential,” she said.
“Protecting children’s rights is not just a responsibility, it is an investment in a better, more just future for everyone.
Together, we can create a world where every child is respected, protected, and empowered.”
Each year, Children’s Rights Queensland appoints ambassadors across the state to champion children’s rights, safety and wellbeing through community leadership and advocacy.
The Winston Glades Early Education Centre has also received national recognition, named Joint National Winner and State Winner in the 2024 Kindicare Excellence Awards, highlighting its commitment to high-quality care and education.
Under Ms Harris’s leadership, the centre continues to prioritise child-led learning, inclusion and strong educational outcomes.
“I’m proud to be part of a team that puts children at the centre of everything we do,” she said.
