LOCAL accounting icon, Russell Bachmann, is retiring from the accounting practice of Bachmann Robinson.
Director of the firm, Richard Dinsdale, announced the upcoming retirement of the senior accountant. Russell has chosen to spend more time with his farm and family and reduce the time spent in the office.
He will continue as a parttime consultant to the firm. Russell spent five years as an accountant in Cairns before joining the firm of DC Neilsen & Co in about 1987.
In 1991 Russell and his then business partner acquired the practice from Denis Neilsen and continued to operate till 1996.
In 1997 Russell joined forces with Richard Dinsdale and Peter Robinson and rebranded the accounting practice as Bachmann Robinson.
One long-time client of Russell’s said that Russell was a confidant to his whole family over many years and many discussions were had in the office regarding cattle, the price of Wagyu, cattle insemination and all things relating to his family and also Russell’s family especially his children and now his five grandchildren.
Another client said that he enjoyed his regular visits with Russell to update the financial information in his
software data files where a coffee was a regular essential ingredient.
Practice manager, Salil Dicholkar, advised that the firm held an end of financial year dinner for staff and family in late June at the Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast which also doubled as an official thank you dinner
for Russell.
Russell Bachmann was and is still heavily involved with the local Rotary organisation having served on executive committees over many years.
