THOUSANDS of families and small businesses in Blair will be soon be able to upgrade to a full-fibre broadband connection as part of the Australian Government’s plan for a better NBN.
The new connection will benefit more than 3,200 homes and businesses in North Ipswich, Pine Mountain, Karalee, Yamanto, Collingwood Park, Springfield and Rosewood.
Surrounding areas, including Gatton and Laidley in the Lockyer Valley, will also be eligible to connect to full-fibre broadband.
The upgrades are part of the NBN’s fibre improvement program, which has been boosted by the Albanese Government’s $2.4 billion investment to expand fullfibre access to 1.5 million additional premises by the end of 2025.
Federal Blair MP, Shayne Neumann said the new investments in faster internet will make a meaningful difference to the quality of life for local residents and businesses in the areas that can now access the full-fibre NBN network.
“This is a nation-building investment, ensuring more Australians, including right here in Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area, can take advantage of an increasingly digital global economy.”
World-class fibre broadband means faster upload and download speeds, and a more reliable connection for local residents. The benefits are even more pronounced for larger households if many devices are used, as higher speeds means the whole family can be online at the same time. NBN Co expects eligible premises will be able to access a full-fibre upgrade from 2024.
