LOCAL Ipswich News marks a significant milestone this week, celebrating its fourth anniversary as a free, community-driven newspaper dedicated to providing Ipswich with a voice.
Launched with the mission to deliver local stories and foster connections, the newspaper has become a cornerstone of the community it serves.
Since its first edition, Local Ipswich News has aimed to do more than just provide the headlines – it strives to highlight the unique stories of Ipswich, from local businesses and grassroots sports to council developments and everyday heroes.
“Our goal has always been to be a true reflection of Ipswich, to connect with the people here and cover the stories that matter most to them,” Local Ipswich News Publisher David Johnston said.
“In an era where local newspapers are disappearing, we are proud to not only survive but thrive, and this is thanks to the unwavering support of our readers and advertisers.”
In a time when many local papers are making the full transition to digital platforms, Local Ipswich News has maintained a strong presence in print, building a loyal audience week after week.
The publication’s strong community focus each week, and the lack of a cover price, sets it apart from others.
“As we look ahead, we are committed to deepening our community ties and expanding our digital presence to better connect with readers,” Mr Johnston added.
“But at the heart of it all, Local Ipswich News will continue to be a voice for the people, by the people.”
The success of the newspaper is a shared victory for the businesses that advertise, the volunteers who contribute, and most importantly, the readers who support it.
“We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the incredible support of our community,” Mr Johnston said.
