Earlier this month, the Queensland Neighbourhood Watch State Conference was held celebrating outstanding contributions to community safety.

Awards were given to the District Neighbourhood Watch Volunteer and Police Liaison Officer of the Year, as well as state winners.

Special recognition goes to Ipswich District’s Community Volunteer of the Year Amanda Draheim and Police Officer of the Year Senior Constable Lynda Whincup, both from Riverview Neighbourhood Watch.

Senior Constable Whincup was acknowledged for her commitment to community engagement, including attending meetings to share crime statistics and prevention methods, providing monthly reports, and fostering connections through events like Talking Trash, a walking group promoting exercise and safety.

Ms Draheim was celebrated for her leadership in Riverview Neighbourhood Watch.

She was behind initiatives such as Muscles in Maculata, movie nights, and the Riverview Cuppa and Chat Group.
