THERE are two things I dislike about eating out: first, being served meals – especially steak – that aren’t cooked the way I requested, and second, going home hungry.

If you’re like me and dislike these two things, then head to The Prince Alfred Hotel (PA) in Booval, where they consistently deliver on flavour, quality and generous portions.

With a reputation built on exceptional flavour, top-quality ingredients, and portions that truly satisfy, this Ipswich dining institution continues to impress.

Stepping into Char’d Restaurant for a Monday lunch time, I was met with the warm hum of happy diners, all indulging in the secret that locals and visitors alike have discovered – this place knows how to do food right.

The atmosphere was welcoming, the service seamless, and the tantalising aroma of sizzling steaks filled the air, setting the stage for a meal to remember.

I ordered the 300g Sirloin, cooked to my preferred medium-rare, and what arrived was nothing short of mouth-watering perfection.

Juicy, tender and bursting with rich, smoky flavour, the steak was everything I had hoped for and more. Sitting atop a golden, crispy bed of perfectly cooked chips, accompanied by a fresh, vibrant garden salad, it was a feast for the senses.

But The PA isn’t just about incredible food; it’s also home to Tap’d, the largest bar in the Southern Hemisphere, pouring 72 craft beers and ciders on tap.

With Char’d’s extensive menu, there’s a reason this venue remains a favourite.

Located at 170 Brisbane Rd, Booval, the kitchen is open from 11am to late daily – the Prince Alfred Hotel is a top pick in Ipswich.
