THE Willowbank Motor Sports precinct has much to offer, with racing and motorsports activities to cater to all ages and abilities.
Every weekend there is an event at the drag strip or the race track.
It was great to catch up with the owner of Queensland Raceway, Tony Quinn, on the weekend to hear his plans to continue to add to his extensive improvements at the paperclip track and facilities.
CAR LOVERS TREAT
Our city has a long history of a love affair with cars, with lapping in town rumoured to have started back in the horse and cart days.
I believe it started in the 70s when Brisbane and Limestone Streets became one way, making a rectangular circuit.
Next Saturday evening, on April 29, a number of classic cars will be on display in Nicholas Street, and I’ve heard a number of car lovers have also booked Top of Town restaurants to see the event.
This is sure to bring in other car lovers to see what’s on offer, and I’m looking forward to seeing the CBD full of people.
COLOURFUL DISPLAY

On Saturday the Orchid and Bromeliad society put on their annual Garden Spectacular.
If you are a plant lover you would have loved the colourful and amazing plants on sale.
The clubs hold two major events a year at Silkstone State School and will be holding the next later in the year, it’s a must see for green thumbs.
SUNDAY BREKKIE FUNDRAISER

Goodna Street Life does amazing work for those doing it tough, providing accommodation, meals, and training.
Helen’s Haven makes 500 hot takeaway meals a week at only $5.
Every Sunday morning from 8-10 they serve a good budget breakfast for the general public to raise money to continue their work. Drop into the old Weeroona Hotel at Goodna and help to support Steve and his team and their worthwhile cause.
JETS JUNIORS FIRE
Finally, well done to the U18 Ipswich Jets who made the State semi-finals, going down to Townsville in the dying minutes.
