THE new Ripley Satellite Hospital has had a steady start to its first week of operation.
West Moreton Health has reported that presentations to the new hospital’s Minor Injury and Illness Clinic have grown to about 50 a day..
Ripley Hospital Director Callum Trevorrow said common complaints treated in the first week were limb and joint pain, fevers, skin tears and earaches.
Several school students accompanied by their parents presented with bumps and bruises.
“The community has responded well to our new facility and the number of people through our doors shows the demand exists in the community for this service,” Mr Trevorrow said.
“Ripley is a growing community and families can feel reassured knowing that urgent care is close by when they need it.”
The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic provides urgent care to people without an appointment between 8am and 10pm, seven days a week.
The service is free to Medicare cardholders and parking is free for clinic visitors.
Ripley Satellite Hospital is the second urgent care centre to open in the West Moreton region in the space of a week.
The Federal Government’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic opened at Riverlink Medical and Dental Centre, North Ipswich, on Monday, August 28.
Ripley Satellite Hospital and the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic both support Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department by providing urgent care for non-life-threatening conditions,
