THE IPSWICH art scene is in great hands and the Performing Arts Showcase at Ripley Valley State Secondary College is a prime example of this.

The fifth annual event took place in the new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre at the college, which was several years in the making and opened in May this year.

The centre boasts industry standard dance, drama, media and music studios.

The showcase was held over two nights and saw over 650 community members attend the highly anticipated event.

College head of performing arts Jessica Starkey said the event set a whole new benchmark for the college and region.

“The students were lucky to perform two sold-out shows with a range of items from curriculum classes and extra-curricular groups,” Ms Starkey said.

“From concert band to drama troupe, dance academy to vocal ensemble, this show had it all!”

Opening its doors for enrolments in 2020 and with the first graduating class of seniors this year, the college continues to thrive and show that it can be a leader in education, sports and the arts.
