STAR Community Services is inviting local residents to join a free, informative, and engaging road safety awareness event on Tuesday, August 26, from 10am to 2pm at Ipswich Sports Club, 1a Samford Rd, Leichhardt.

Supported by the Ipswich District Neighbourhood Watch Committee, the event will feature expert-led sessions designed to help community members stay safe on the road, make informed transport decisions, and understand the latest road safety rules and practices.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the presenters from STAR Community Services, Queensland Transport and the Queensland Police Service.

“This event is about empowering our community with knowledge,” STAR Transport Manager Vic
Cogley said.

“Older drivers may often lack the confidence and feel unsupported when it comes to road safety and transport decisions.”

This is a free event and will include a light lunch for attendees.

RSVP to [email protected] or call 3821 6699. Bookings are essential.

The same event will also take place in Lowood on Thursday, August 28 from 10am to 2pm at 43 Park St.

STAR Community Services is an award-winning aged care and disability support service provider, operating since 1996.

STAR offers easy and affordable door-to-door transport for the elderly, frail, and people with disabilities.

Its personalised transport service supports those who cannot access public transport and/or do not have a private vehicle, helping them attend appointments, social outings, and community activities.

By providing transport for all non-urgent needs, STAR plays a vital role in reducing social isolation and keeping people connected.
