FROM enchanted forests to outer space adventures, Scenic Rim families are set for a packed winter school holiday program filled with creativity, discovery and hands-on fun.
Scenic Rim Regional Council has unveiled a vibrant line-up of affordable activities for children, teens and families during the school holidays, which run from June 27 to July 12.
The program includes space-themed library activities, wildlife encounters, circus workshops, art classes, movies and interactive performances across Beaudesert, Boonah, Tamborine Mountain and local libraries.
Council’s cultural centres will focus on enchanted worlds of art, theatre, circus and wildlife, while Scenic Rim libraries will launch into space adventures.
Popular LEGO Masters Australia star Andrew Tuppen will return to the Scenic Rim for another series of Clicking Bricks workshops at Council libraries, with young builders invited to create their own space-inspired designs.
Library highlights include the StarLab Cosmodome Experience at Tamborine Mountain, where children can step inside a full dome cinema and learn about space flight and survival on Mars.
At Beaudesert, young scientists can take part in It’s Rocket Science, building water-propelled bottle rockets before they blast off.
The space theme continues with Virtual Voyagers: One Strange Rock, where participants use virtual reality headsets to fly alongside astronauts in the first 3D VR film shot in space.
Families can also enjoy Story Time Under the Stars, Rockets in Space sessions, Sensory SPACE at Beaudesert and other hands-on activities across libraries.
At The Centre Beaudesert, children aged seven and over can run away with the circus for a day during a full-day workshop with Flipside Circus on July 7.
Participants will learn juggling, tumbling, mini-tramp, trapeze and other circus skills.
Tamborine Mountain’s Vonda Youngman Community Centre will host Once Upon an Ocean Adventure on 9 July 9, an interactive underwater storytelling and art experience from Shake and Stir Theatre Company for children aged three to eight.
