THE Crisafulli Government says it is delivering on its commitment to unlock housing supply.
It says more than 2400 lots for new homes have been approved in South East Queensland, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders sooner.
In the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area (PDA), 1631 housing lots have been approved to accommodate 4500 residents, in addition to essential
infrastructure including a future State primary school, retail precincts and green spaces.
The green light has also been given to 782 new homes in Brisbane’s inner suburbs of Indooroopilly and Milton.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the developments would provide more new homes in both established urban areas and emerging growth corridors.
“Our Government is taking decisive action, unlocking more than 2400 lots for new homes across South East Queensland,” Mr Bleijie said.
“Construction in Flagstone – one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing regions – has already commenced, highlighting how the Crisafulli Government is getting on with delivering more housing to fix Labor’s Housing Crisis.
“In Brisbane’s inner-city suburbs, we’re delivering affordable housing under build-to-rent models, reflecting our focus on delivering a mix of new housing options.
“Our plan to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders is designed to meet the varied needs of Queensland’s growing population, from first-home buyers to families and those wanting to downsize.”
Peet’s Development Director for Flagstone, Troy Thompson, said the milestone was an important step in realising the vision for this vibrant new community.
“Flagstone is already home to 10,000 residents, growing by 40 new families every month,” Mr Thompson said.
“This approval enables us to expand the range of housing and amenities available to future residents and ensure the ongoing development of 500 new homes in Flagstone each year.”
Approval has been granted for 1631 housing lots, which will deliver a variety of housing, including 3-4 bedroom detached and attached homes, and will be aimed at predominantly first-home buyers
In Indooroopilly, approval has been granted for 478 homes, 105 of which will be allocated to affordable housing under a build-to-rent model, supporting high-density living.
This development will feature residential units, shops, food and drink outlets, offices, a bar, 44 short-term accommodation units and a community-use space.
