A sea of pink will once again flood Springfield this March, with up to 2000 participants expected to take part in the 2026 Mater Chicks in Pink International Women’s Day Fun Run, presented by Queensland X-Ray.

The five-kilometre event will be held at Robelle Domain Parklands on Sunday, March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day and uniting the community in support of breast cancer care and research.

The Mater Chicks in Pink Fun Run raises vital funds and awareness for breast cancer, with one in every four Queenslanders diagnosed with the disease receiving treatment at a Mater hospital.

Mater Hospital Springfield General Manager Suzanne Hawksley said funds raised through previous Fun Runs had been reinvested directly into enhanced facilities and services for the growing western corridor.

“Taking part in the Fun Run helps Mater provide vital care, support and research for those impacted by breast cancer at the Mater Cancer Care Centre, Springfield,” Ms Hawksley said.

“We know one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and community support is critical to ensuring access to state-of-the-art diagnostic and medical care, as well as cutting-edge research into improved treatments.”

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the event struck a chord with many locals.

“Most people know someone impacted by breast cancer, and Mater’s Fun Run provides a powerful opportunity to rally around our friends and loved ones,” Mayor Harding said.

“This is an exciting time for our region, with Mater Hospital Springfield opening from April.”

Registrations are now open for the Springfield Mater Chicks in Pink Fun Run, with places limited.
