In the heart of every community, there are individuals who face unique challenges in accessing essential services such as transport, participating in social activities, and maintaining their independence.

Recognising the need to bridge this gap, STAR Community Services, a local non-profit organisation, is offering reliable and affordable community transport services to residents of Ipswich. The Community

Transport Funding provides subsidised transport for individuals under 65 years of age, with disability or disadvantaged, who are not eligible for NDIS.

STAR, with its long-standing reputation for providing care with compassion, is dedicated to delivering a range of aged care and disability support services that cater to the most vulnerable members of our community.

“By extending STAR’s Community Transport service to people with disabilities but not eligible for NDIS or those who are disadvantaged, we take a significant stride toward building a more inclusive community”, said Patsy Wilshire, STAR CEO. “Transport is essential in connecting individuals to the rest of the community and supporting them in reaching their life goals,” she added.

Wendy Lane has been accessing STAR’s transport service to get to her volunteering role at the local Queensland Country Women’s Association branch. “I started volunteering with CWA in July last year. I enjoy helping out by making sandwiches and serving food at the meetings. STAR helps me continue my volunteering work which is very important to me.”

The Community Transport Funding offers a vital bridge between the various layers of funding supports.

This service ensures that even those who fall outside the boundaries of NDIS eligibility criteria can still find a reliable and affordable transport option. It enables individuals to access their community, reach essential services, and engage socially and economically, all while maintaining their independence.

If you or someone you know is under 65 years of aged, has a disability but not an NDIS participant and seeking help with transport costs, please give STAR a call. You may be eligible to access Community Transport Funding.

For more information, please contact STAR on 07 3821 6699 or simply visit the STAR office at Shop 1, 5 Jacaranda St, East Ipswich 4305.
