UNIVERSITY of Southern Queensland Emeritus Professor Dr Shahjahan Khan has been recognised on the world stage, receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Association of Reliability and Statistics during its 9th International Conference.
The award – the highest honour conferred by IARS – celebrates global leaders who have made extraordinary and enduring contributions to statistical science.
Professor Khan was commended for his lifelong academic excellence, pioneering research, international influence, and decades of professional and community service.
Professor Khan said he was honoured to receive the recognition, attributing the achievement to the collaborations, mentorships and institutional support that had shaped his career.
Professor Khan’s career spans more than four decades and academic appointments in Bangladesh, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Oman and Australia.
He has supervised more than 20 PhD candidates, authored five books, published more than 250 journal articles, and presented dozens of workshops and keynote addresses globally.
Now serving as Vice Chancellor of the Asian University of Bangladesh, while remaining an Emeritus Professor at the University of Southern Queensland, Professor Khan is also widely respected nationwide for his advocacy for multiculturalism, harmony and an inclusive society.
