IPSWICH veteran and community organisations are being urged to put forward their ideas for a share of more than $3.7 million in Federal Government funding aimed at improving the health, wellbeing and social connection of veterans and their families.
Applications have opened for the 2026-27 Veteran Wellbeing Grants Program, offering organisations up to $200,000 to deliver projects ranging from grassroots community activities to larger programs expanding services and support.
For a region with strong links to the Australian Defence Force through RAAF Base Amberley and a significant veteran and ex-service community, Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the grants represented an opportunity to deliver support where it was needed.
“My electorate is home to one of the largest defence and ex-service communities in the country, so this funding can play a huge role in improving access to services and supports,” Mr Neumann said.
Organisations can apply for small grants of up to $50,000 for local projects and activities providing safe and accessible environments for veterans and their families.
Larger grants of between $50,001 and $200,000 are available for broader initiatives designed to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen social connections, build community capacity, expand existing services or raise awareness of issues affecting veterans and their families.
Previous rounds demonstrate the scope of projects that can be supported, with Wounded Heroes Australia receiving $1.1 million through a one-off major grant round in 2023 to upgrade its Veterans’ Centre headquarters at Bundamba.
Kilcoy RSL Sub Branch was another recipient, receiving $9559 to deliver seven wellbeing and social outings for its members and other veterans across the Morayfield area and South East Queensland.
Mr Neumann encouraged ex-service organisations and other community groups to consider what they could deliver locally.
“I encourage all local veteran support organisations and other community groups to consider applying for funding,” he said.
Applications close on November 10, with organisations encouraged to demonstrate how their proposed project would improve wellbeing outcomes for veterans and their families.
