FORTY minutes from the Ipswich CBD, The Vue Restaurant rewards the drive with sweeping country views, genuine hospitality, and a menu that champions the paddock-to-plate philosophy.
Located at Boonah within the rolling landscapes of the Scenic Rim, The Vue has become one of the region’s standout dining destinations by blending refined modern Australian cuisine with relaxed country charm. Elegance here feels effortless, underpinned by warmth and a strong sense of place.
The menu is shaped by a deep commitment to local produce. Much of the kitchen’s ingredients are sourced from nearby growers and artisans, supporting the Scenic Rim community while ensuring dishes remain fresh, seasonal, and full of flavour.
From house-made focaccia and beetroot-cured gravlax to perfectly cooked grain-fed wagyu, every plate reflects quality ingredients at their peak. Local suppliers such as Oppy’s Fruit and Veg, Butcher & Co Boonah, and Witches Falls Winery bring identity and provenance to the menu.
Owners Mikayla and Brendan Krueger lead this vision with care and clarity.
Mikayla’s cooking is thoughtful and grounded in the land, while Brendan’s front-of-house leadership delivers service that is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
The menu unfolds like a drive through the Scenic Rim countryside. Starters evoke the comfort of country kitchens, with warm focaccia infused with rosemary, garlic and chilli oil, followed by fresh, vibrant bruschetta. Entrées introduce deeper flavours – grilled peaches with blue cheese and honey, beetroot-cured salmon gravlax, crispy pork belly, and a considered plant-based celeriac steak. Fresh oysters add a subtle coastal note to the inland setting.
The mains form the heart of the journey, showcasing premium local meats and careful technique. Chicken ballotine, venison cooked medium-rare, herb-crusted pork tenderloin and a confident selection of grain-fed and full-blood wagyu steaks reflect a true respect for provenance and flavour.
Lighter options, including duck breast with Davidson plum jus and confit orange roughy with pea risotto, provide balance, while vegetables from local growers and the restaurant’s own garden anchor each dish in place.
Desserts bring the experience to a gentle close, rounding out a menu that feels both creative and grounded.
What defines The Vue is not just what appears on the plate, but the connection between land, producer, kitchen and service.
Dining here is more than a meal – it’s an invitation to experience the Scenic Rim through flavour, season and story.
The Vue Restaurant, 3908 Ipswich-Boonah Rd, is open Wednesday to Saturday for dinner from 5.30-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday for lunch from 11am-2pm.
