COMMUNITY spirit and women in leadership will take centre stage in Ipswich when Ipswich Girls’ and Junior Grammar School hosts its annual International Women’s Day Dinner.

The event will bring together students, staff, families, and the wider Ipswich and West Moreton community to celebrate women’s empowerment.

After last year’s event was cancelled due to Cyclone Alfred, the dinner returns for 2026 with a focus on the theme Balance the Scales.

The evening aims to encourage women and girls to discover their voice, use it to create change, and empower others to do the same.

This year, guests will hear from entrepreneur and women-in-business champion Fleur Madden as the keynote speaker.

A panel discussion will follow, featuring Telstra InfraCo Executive Kathryn Jones and Women’s Legal Services Queensland CEO Nadia Bromley.

The discussion will be facilitated by the school’s 2026 Head Girls, giving young leaders the chance to steer the conversation.

Principal Kyle Thompson said providing opportunities for young people to lead meaningful discussions is key.

“International Women’s Day is more than a day of acknowledgement – it’s a visible reminder to support the voices of women and girls every day, recognising the impact they can have on their school, community, and society,” he said.

“Having our Head Girls lead this year’s panel discussion demonstrates the strength and capability of our next generation of leaders and underscores what can be achieved when young women are encouraged to step forward with confidence.”

Funds raised will support Women’s Legal Service Queensland, a community legal centre providing free support to women across the State, particularly those experiencing domestic and family violence.
