OUR community is so generous, and once again it was on show as Berni and her “Signal Flare” team and volunteers put on a free event for those doing it tough at Cameron Park on Sunday.

SAD NEWS

It’s heartbreaking to hear that local 20 yr old motocross rider Brayden Erbacher was killed after a fall while riding at a ProMX Championship in Victoria.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and motocross community.

BOUNCING BACK

It wasn’t that long ago that everyone was digging in after the flood disaster.
It wasn’t that long ago that everyone was digging in after the flood disaster.

This time last year the full extent of the February floods was felt with hundreds of households displaced and many businesses suffering major damage.

The resilience of our city to bounce back is amazing, and it was inspiring to see friends, family and strangers come together with SES, the RAAF and Army to strip out and clean up flooded properties.

LOST ATTRACTION

The old Warrego Water Park.
The old Warrego Water Park.

Who remembers the Warrego Water Park at Haigslea?

It opened in the 1990s and was a close and cheap place to entertain the family.

We spent many Saturdays and Sundays there, and would meet up with friends and enjoyed many a barbecue.

Sadly it shut in the early 2000s and with the demise of Amazons, our closest Water park is now Wet and Wild at the Gold Coast.

The park used to attract visitors from as far away as Boonah, Esk, Brisbane and Toowoomba.

I’d love to see ICC attract business to town that will bring visitors to our city.

DOORS OPEN AGAIN

Welcome back to Aman at the Bens Kebabs.
Welcome back to Aman at the Bens Kebabs.

Last week, 12 months since being flooded, Aman reopened her Bens Kebabs Store and Kim and Ken reopened their Thai-Viet store at Limestone street in town. Both businesses were popular before the flood and we trust they will once again be well supported.
