IPSWICH sports fans have a great opportunity to see top AFL action later this month before the women’s season kicks off on the first weekend in September.

The Brisbane Lions VFL side is taking all before them this year winning nine straight games to lead the premiership table.

The Lions are looking to make up for a disappointing end to the 2022 season when they were knocked out in the preliminary final by the Casey Demons.

The Demons beat the Lions by 51 points and then went on to take the 2022 trophy.

The Lions will next be at home at Brighton Homes Arena when they meet the Sydney Swans at 11am on Saturday, June 17.

Fans will be treated to a number of AFL-listed players including Rhys Mathieson, Deven Robertson, Jaxon Prior, Harry Sharp and youngsters Kai Lohmann and Jaspa Fletcher.

Along with VFL-listed player Wylie Buzza, Kyle Dunkley and Harry Arnold.

Brighton Homes Arena is home to Wilde Kitchen for patrons to enjoy a coffee and croissant or a burger and drink from Wilde Bistro and Bar.

Lions VFL Head Coach Ben Hudson said it was great to start the season so strongly and perform so well on our new home ground.

“To have fans from the local areas of Springfield and Ipswich come out and support the boys helps creates an awesome atmosphere,” he said.

“We hope that we can entice even more fans to come down to the oval enjoy what it has to offer and hopefully see a Lions win.”

It’s free to attend the VFL games and easy access is from Springfield stadium.
