IT’S getting close to Christmas and it’s shining bright at the Tivoli Drive-In with its own Tivoli Arts Awards.
Jonathan Wallen and Stuart Manuel of the events team at Tivoli Drive-in want to celebrate the best and brightest local artists found in Southeast Queensland.
Imagine your artwork lighting up the night sky as it takes centre stage at one of the region’s most beloved venues.
This year’s theme is Classic Australia.
They are looking forward to seeing work that explores the different facets of Australian culture, history, and identity that is thought-provoking, challenging, and visually remarkable.
Entries are judged by a panel of industry experts, and winners are awarded prizes, including cash, exposure, and the opportunity to have their work displayed on the big screen at the Tivoli Drive-In.
The entries will be grouped into three different tiers. Primary School, Grade 7-12 and Opens.
The categories are:
l Poetry
l Short Screenplay
l Short Story/Narrative
l Visual Arts
l Short Film

The best in ceramics.
The Ipswich Community Gallery will host the exhibition of the 2023 Ceramic Arts Queensland Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence and the inaugural Gwyn Hanssen Pigott Wood Fired Ceramics Award.
Ceramic Arts Queensland is one of Australia’s oldest organisations, it’s a not-for-profit volunteer run organisation based in Brisbane.
They foster an inclusive and unified ceramic art community in Queensland and Northern NSW.
Ceramic Arts Queensland announced the winners of these awards and they are as follows, the 2023 Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence has been awarded to Astrid Salomon for the work ‘Dark Fruit’ and the inaugural Gwyn Hanssen Pigott Wood Fired Ceramics Award has been awarded to Ray Cavill for the work ‘The Fire and The Flood II’.
Concurrent with the exhibition will be a community program of floor talks, workshops, guided tours and a local arts trail.
The winner and the finalists of the award will be on display at the Ipswich Community Gallery until 5 November.

Tickets are on sale now for the last performance of the year for Ipswich Little Theatre.
This year they have lovingly ripped off from the Star Wars classic ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and giving us ‘My Fair Empire’.
This is a show to end the year with a full belly and a side-splitting laugh or two thrown in.
The season runs from 10 November until 2 December.
Evening performances commence at 7.30pm and matinee performances commence at 1.30pm. Tickets will be from $55 each and include a three-course meal.
