The Ipswich arts community is excited to see that the position of Director of the Ipswich Art Gallery has finally been filled.

I would like to welcome Claire Sourgnes, who was selected over many other applicants for this highly sort after position in our city.

Claire’s resume expands over 20 years with her working in various roles within commercial, government and artist run galleries.

Clair managed the Moreton Bay Regional’s three galleries and its art collection.

It was through this position that Clair gained experience in delivering diverse, quality, innovative programs which exemplify the transformative power visual art, craft and design can have in our communities.

In 2016 Clair was appointed the CEO of artisan, Queensland’s only organisation supporting and advocating for the craft and design sector in the state.

Clair’s wealth of knowledge and commitment to enriching lives through community interaction with the arts will be greatly received by the Ipswich arts community.

I cannot wait to see what Claire brings to the Gallery. I’m sure there will be a lot more opportunities for artists and the community and hope to be able to be part of the galleries exciting new journey.
