FOR seniors, sport might seem a thing of the past. But the truth is that staying active is even more important for older people than it is for the young.

One way of staying active that really does work for seniors is tai chi. This ancient Chinese martial art is gentle but still gets you moving. The slow, flowing motions are great for balance, flexibility and strength.

It’s a great way to reduce strength and increase wellbeing. Doing it regularly might even boost concentration and cognitive function.

It’s low impact, so it should be doable for all ages, but of course you should contact your GP before taking it on if you have concerns.
