The Ipswich Force men had mixed fortunes in their weekend double-header, with a convincing win against the Northside Wizards before a loss to the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.

On Friday night they seemed to have got their season back on track with a 111-82 win against the Wizards.

Up at the major break 59-42, they went to the break positive, and in the end Nathan Sobey starred again for the home side with 30 points, while DJ Mitchell had 23 points and seven rebounds.

On Saturday night, on the road against Sunshine Coast Phoenix, they went down by single digits 95-90.

The occasion was one crying out for celebration, with captain and long-term Ipswich basketball veteran Jason Ralph notching up his 200th game.

Taking on the undefeated Northside Wizards was always going to be a bridge too far for the Lady Force in the first game of their double-header.

At halftime, the Wizards had shown the dominance expected with an 18-point lead, heading to the change rooms 48-30.

For the first half, Force recruit Amanda Cahill was already flirting with a double-double with seven points and seven rebounds along with two blocks.

She finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 92-74 loss.

It was far from the expected demolition, but the Wizards remained undefeated, with another great showing by Nadeen Payne (19 points), Erin Bollmann (23 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals) and rebound queen AJ Johnson working the glass, finishing with 12 rebounds to go with her 15 points.

However, the Force did beat the Phoenix in their next game 79-74, for only their second win for the season.

The squads will return back home to JBS Arena on June 29 when they host the Logan Thunder, with both Logan squads looking to shake up the post season.
