The Division Three Ipswich Musketeers are continuing to put the sword to their opponents, making it six wins on the bounce following a 14-10 win over the ladder-leading Mudgeeraba Redsox.
Ipswich now have eight wins and two losses from 10 matches played and sit second on the ladder with an 80% win rate.
Their Gold Coast-based rivals, Mudgeeraba got out to a 10-3 lead by the end of the third innings.
The fourth innings is where Ipswich came out to play, taking eight runs to take the lead back and come away with the victory.
Josh Roberts leads the pitch count for the Musketeers (34) but has not played since November 24.
The season will now take a break and return in the new year with a match against the Southern Stars on January 12 to be held in Ipswich.
The Southern Stars sit fourth on the ladder having played nine matches for five wins, one draw and three losses.
Baseball is seeing a resurgence of popularity and the Musketeers, as one of Queensland’s oldest baseball clubs, is looking to boost its numbers up into the new year.
Established in 1954, Ipswich Musketeers has a proud history of representative players while maintaining the reputation as a family-oriented club that promotes the opportunities for all to enjoy the sport of baseball.
Originally based at Spring St, East Ipswich, in 1989 the club made the move to the Tivoli Sporting Complex – creating one of the best baseball facilities in South East Queensland.
Boasting two full-sized diamonds, batting cage facilities and ample room for spectators and parking, the club fields teams for the summer GBL (Greater Brisbane League) competition, running from October through to March.
If this Musketeers outfit continues to post wins, it will remain as one of the othe benchmarks for the sport in South East Queensland.
