THE Queensland Rugby League has announced its U19 State of Origin squad, showcasing the state’s emerging rugby league talent, and Ipswich is strongly represented.

Former Broncos and Dragons star Darius Boyd will lead the young men in his first head coaching role.

The Ipswich region’s significant contribution to rugby league is showcased with several players emerging from its renowned development programs.

Xzavier Timoteo, contracted with the Roosters and a product of Ipswich State High, stands out in the men’s squad.

In the 2024 school competition, he scored 12 tries and made 10-line breaks.

His strengths include powerful ball running, strong defensive reads, and excelling under pressure.

In the Women’s Harvey Norman U19 Emerging Origin Squad, coached by Maia Tua-Davidson, Ipswich’s influence continues with four talented Ipswich State High School graduates representing the constant development and nurturing of elite athletes from that nursey.

Ella-Jaye Harrison-Leaunoa, a standout playmaker, excels as a halfback or centre.

She recorded 15 try assists and nine tries in the 2024 Schoolgirls Cup, showcasing her strengths in leadership, game management and passing accuracy.

Oriana Clark is a formidable forward who can play on the edge or as a prop.

She averages over 200 run metres per game and is known for her hard-hitting defence, tackle-breaking ability, and adaptability across the forward pack.

Pauline To’o, a dangerous outside back, scored 14 tries and maintained a 90 per cent tackle efficiency last season.

Shalom Sauaso, one of the most exciting young talents, plays as a lock or back row.

Last season, she earned five player of the match awards and made over 350 tackles. Sauaso’s versatility, elite fitness, and dominant defensive presence take her talent to the next level.

She is set to make history this year by playing for the Queensland Reds while contracted to the Broncos, awaiting her 18th birthday to debut for Brisbane.
