IPSWICH’S own Jude Thomas has further cemented his place among Australia’s top middle-distance runners with a dominant performance at the Sydney Track Classic last week.

The 23-year-old stormed to victory in the 3000m final on Saturday night, clocking a time of 7:49.17.

His clinical display earned him his third Australian title, finishing ahead of training partners Callum Davis (7:50.04) and Jack Bruce (7:50.75).

With another national title under his belt, Thomas now turns his attention to the Australian Nationals in Perth later this year.

Thomas recently returned from a successful stint in the US, where he delivered a series of impressive performances on the international stage.

While overseas, he ran an indoor 5000m in Boston, finishing in 13:09.36, and produced a strong 3:51.19 mile time in Seattle.

These results have placed him among the top five Australian athletes in both events.

A former student of St Edmund’s College in Ipswich, Thomas has been a standout talent since his school years.
