A FRIDAY afternoon lunch at Mihi Tavern reminded me of the hidden gems we have scattered across our great city.

Tucked away in Brassall, this local favourite hits all the right notes for both long-time locals and visiting foodies.

The chef recommended I try the Pumpkin Risotto, a heart-warming addition to the new menu set to launch next week.

As a risotto fan, I had high expectations –and I can honestly say this dish set a new benchmark.

Creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced, it warms you from the inside out. It’s a clear standout that’s bound to become a crowd favourite as we head into the cooler months.

Mihi Tavern has built a reputation on a simple but effective philosophy: “Pub classics done well.” And the chefs truly deliver.

The menu is a modern spin on classic pub fare, with hearty staples like chicken parmigiana, beef burgers, gourmet salads and premium steaks.

The popular $15 lunch menu (available weekdays from 11.30am-2.30pm) is a hit with anyone after a quality meal at a great price.

Locals rave about the schnitzels, calling them “awesome” and “some of the best around”.

In fact, the upcoming menu update will feature an even broader range of snitty and parmy options – music to the ears of regulars who can’t get enough.

But it’s not just the food that impresses.

Mihi Tavern is a true family-friendly destination. The mix-and-match kids’ menu and expansive outdoor play area make it a hit with parents.

The indoor/outdoor bistro, renovated spaces, and genuinely warm and welcoming staff complete the experience.

Whether you’re dropping in for a quick bite, planning a relaxed family outing, or simply want to soak up the atmosphere over a cold drink, Mihi Tavern ticks every box.

The kitchen is open Monday to Thursday from 11.30am-2.30pm for lunch, and 5-8.30pm for dinner. On Fridays, you can enjoy lunch from 11.30am-2:30pm, with dinner service extending a little later, from 5-9pm.

For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, the Sports Bar offers all-day dining on Fridays and Saturdays from 11.30am-9pm, and on Sundays from 11.30am-8.30pm.
