SINCE opening in 2006 and moving to Brassall Shopping Centre the following year, Eyes on Brassall has grown to become a trusted name in eye care across the Ipswich region.

Founded by an optometrist seeking a better balance between work and family life, the practice remains proudly independent – allowing for personalised service that larger chains often can’t match.

“We prioritise the health of our patients’ eyes over everything else,” says practice owner Jane Westaway.

“Because we’re not part of a corporate group, we have the flexibility to offer a wider range of brands and lens types that best suit individual needs.”

Eyes on Brassall caters to patients of all ages, offering comprehensive eye exams including OCT 3D scans, retinal photography, and visual field testing. Whether it’s frames, sunglasses, contact lenses or specialty lenses, customers can expect a tailored experience that puts their vision first.

The practice carries an extensive collection of well-known eyewear brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Nike, Kate Spade, Escada, Nine West, Bebe, Maui Jim, Zeal, and the boutique designer The Elusive Miss Lou.

A friendly and experienced team ensures every patient feels welcome, comfortable and confident in their care.

“We quickly build rapport with our patients, listen to their concerns, and offer the best solutions possible,” the owner adds.

With thousands of satisfied customers, the feedback speaks for itself.

One loyal patient, Mathew Taylor, says: “This is far and away the best optometrist in the western corridor. Great service, quality products and expert advice. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Eyes on Brassall is also committed to keeping up with the latest advances, with staff regularly attending seminars and training sessions.

The practice is child-friendly, supports seniors through the Spectacle Supply Scheme, and offers on-the-spot HICAPS claiming for all major health funds.

As the business marks its 19th year, the community connection remains strong.

“It’s a joy when people recognise us outside of work and stop for a friendly chat – it shows we’re more than just a business; we’re part of their lives.”
