STRONG families are the foundation of strong communities, and at Kambu Health’s Ipswich Children and Family Centre, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents, carers, and children to thrive is at the heart of everything they do.

Located in Churchill, the centre provides a welcoming, culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged from birth to eight years, alongside their parents, caregivers, and extended families.

Through a range of free parenting support programs, early childhood activities, playgroups and family- focused initiatives, the Centre works alongside families to build confidence, strengthen relationships and create positive foundations for children’s learning, health, and wellbeing.

Parenting is one of life’s most important journeys, and every family deserves access to encouragement, practical guidance, and a supportive community.

Ipswich Children and Family Centre recognises that parents and caregivers play a vital role in shaping their children’s future.

Through parenting programs, family workshops and individualised support, families can develop practical skills, share experiences, build confidence, and strengthen their understanding of children’s development.

Programs and workshops have covered topics including parenting and child development, family health and wellbeing, and practical life skills such as budgeting and financial wellbeing.

The early years are critical to a child’s development, and the centre’s playgroups and early learning activities encourage children to explore, discover, and develop essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

The centre also supports families as their children prepare for school, helping little ones develop early literacy, numeracy and social skills while nurturing a strong sense of cultural pride and belonging.

Kambu Health Chief Executive Officer Dania Ahwang said the centre reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting families through culturally grounded, community-led services.

“Strong families are the heart of strong communities,” she said.
