$9m early learning boost for Rosewood families

FAMILIES in Rosewood are set to benefit from a major investment in early childhood education, with the Federal Government committing $9 million to deliver a new early learning service in the fast-growing community.

The centre will be built at Rosewood State School, allowing parents to avoid the “double drop-off” and instead access a convenient one-stop location for both school and early learning. The co-located model is also expected to support smoother transitions for children as they move into formal schooling.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, with the service delivering 75 new early childhood education and care places.

The Rosewood project forms part of a broader Federal-State partnership to roll out five new or expanded not-for-profit early learning services across outer suburban and regional Queensland.

Alongside Rosewood, new facilities are planned for Yarrabilba State School, Clermont State School, Yorkeys Knob State School and Chinchilla South.

The developments are being funded through the $1 billion Building Early Education Fund, which is designed to expand access to early learning in areas of high demand, particularly in regional communities and growth corridors.

Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education Jess Walsh said the investment would help ensure every child has access to quality early learning, regardless of where they live.

“Every child deserves access to quality early learning – no matter their postcode,” she said.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the funding would directly support families in one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing regions.

“Where you grow up shouldn’t determine whether you can access early education,” he said.

“At Rosewood, this means more families can access early learning close to home, and children can start school ready to learn.”

The Queensland Government will also contribute funding to expand its Free Kindy program at the new centres, improving affordability and access for families in outer suburban and regional communities.

The investment is expected to boost workforce participation, strengthen local communities and give more children the best possible start in life.
