AFTER researching and compiling artist stories for others, I thought maybe it was time to tell a little story about me.

I am a self-taught, multi-award-winning photographer who has always had a love and appreciation for the arts. I believe that this passion has given me the knowledge and ability to create beautiful and professional artworks.

Through my association with artists, I began to look at the world through artist’s eyes. Learning to experience life with such insight has given me a different perspective on looking at everything I view.

Now seeing shapes, shadows, light, colour and beauty in things I never saw before, I developed a desire to capture these new feelings, turning to photography as my medium of choice.

With my images, I find textures very important, particularly when it comes to documentary and landscape-type works. The ability for an image to tell a story and create emotions and nostalgia where possible.

With a fondness for architectural/documentary style photography, and a love of our amazing landscape, I approach photography without expectation and photograph with the philosophy of “do it for yourself”.

My work is a reflection of the intricate dialogue between the natural world and the landscapes that frame our daily experiences. My photographic practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of surroundings – both the serene and the chaotic, and I seek to illuminate the nuanced interplay between flora, fauna, and the ever-evolving environment.

Through my art, I inspire to evoke a sense of curiosity and contemplation about our place within this intricate web of life.

Ultimately my photographic journey is an exploration of perception, encouraging a heightened awareness of our environment and a deeper appreciation for the subtle wonders that often go unnoticed.

As a member of the Ipswich Arts Connect Inc, and also a committee member of Fused Inc, I am involved in many community activities through various local art groups, artistic workshops, exhibitions and promoting the arts whenever and wherever I can.

I am influenced by many renowned photographers like Max Dupain and Olive Cotton, as well as many Ipswich local photographers that I hold in high esteem including Donna Davis, Leanne Vincent, Jason McNamara, Tom and Lyn Mason, David Davies to name a few. These artists have been great inspiration for me and have supported and encouraged my artistic practice.

I currently have works on show and for sale at the Ipswich Arts Connect Booval Fair Community Art Gallery, the Heart of the community.
