BRISBANE Roar will bring A-League football to Ipswich later this month when they face FQPL 1 side Ipswich FC in a pre-season clash at Briggs Road Sports Complex.
The match, to be played on Wednesday, July 22, with a 7pm kick-off, will give football fans an early look at Brisbane Roar’s preparations for the upcoming A-League season while providing Ipswich FC with a valuable opportunity to test itself against top-flight opposition.
Ipswich FC coach James Baty said the fixture was an exciting opportunity for the club and its players.
“For us, this match is a wonderful opportunity,” Baty said.
“Brisbane Roar are an established A-League club with a strong history, and we have a lot of respect for what they do.
“As a FQPL 1 club, we’re grateful for the chance to test ourselves against that level. Our focus is on learning, growing and giving our players an experience they’ll remember.
“If we can show our character, stay organised and compete with honesty, I’ll be happy.”
The fixture is expected to attract football supporters from across the region as Brisbane Roar fine-tune their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Ipswich FC is encouraging players, coaches, volunteers, parents and football fans of all ages to attend the match.
With pre-season anticipation building, the clash will provide an opportunity for supporters to see new signings, returning players and emerging talent in action before the A-League season.
