DOG owners and their four-legged friends are celebrating the completion of a new district-level dog off-leash area at Limestone Park.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the new facility on Chermside Rd, Ipswich was another example of Ipswich City Council investing in facilities that enhance lifestyle and make our community an even better place to live.
“Dogs are an important part of many families, and this new off-leash area provides a dedicated place where they can run, play and socialise, while creating another great spot for our community to connect outdoors,” Mayor Harding said.
“The new off-leash area caters for dogs of all sizes, with separate areas for small and large dogs, agility equipment, shelters, seating, drinking fountains, bins and landscaping.”
Mayor Harding said a nice feature of the new dog off-leash area was the obstacle course built as part of the facility’s dog agility equipment, incorporating wood from a repurposed gum tree which had to be removed from a different section of the park.
“A new accessible car park and disability compliant footpath have also been constructed, ensuring the area is welcoming and accessible for all residents.
Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the facility delivered significant benefits for residents and visitors, and Division 3 Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said it responded to the needs of a growing community.
“This new dog off-leash area provides a safe, purpose-built space where dogs can exercise and socialise,” Cr Antoniolli said.
